Success of Our Students at the Young İZİKAD Entrepreneurship Competition
The “Therma-Path: Heat-Resilient Urban Navigation” application, developed within the scope of our department’s CP 502 Studio Options in City Planning course under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz Gerçek, was awarded Third Prize among 34 competing projects at the 14th Young İZİKAD Entrepreneurship Competition.
Our graduate students Ezgi Çelik, Eda Buse Bağdem, and Rozerin Arslan (Department of City and Regional Planning, İzmir Institute of Technology), together with Avni Eren Ukap (Department of Architecture, İzmir Institute of Technology) and İsmail Kaya Yerlikaya (Department of Computer Engineering, Çukurova University), achieved this remarkable success through interdisciplinary collaboration and entrepreneurship mentoring support.
We congratulate our students and the faculty member who guided them throughout the process, and we wish them continued success in their future endeavors.
About the Project
Therma-Path is a climate-resilient mobile navigation solution that integrates urban heat island hotspots using remote sensing and machine learning technologies. Moving beyond the conventional shortest-route approach to pedestrian navigation, the application provides the coolest and safest route tailored to each user’s needs, promoting more comfortable and climate-adaptive urban mobility.
