EVALUATION OF EXISTING NEIGHBORHOOD PARKS BASED ON THE “NEED-BASED EQUITY”: Why and who do and do (can) not use neighborhood parks in Izmir?, 2016-2018 |
Evolving as a case study in Izmir (Turkey), the Project evaluates who (doesn’t/cannot) have access to and use neighborhood parks, why and under what conditions, by investigating objective and perceived characteristics of built and social environment at the urban, neighborhood and park scales. It examines the reasons and conditions of especially children, women, elderly and low-income groups for (not) using neighborhood parks in Izmir. Project investigates firstly the need-groups’ accessibility to neighborhood parks at the urban scale; then will search for the applications of how this argument and its tools can be deployed when investigating the conditions at neighborhood and park scales affecting park usage.
